Arlington Sun Gazette: Big Foot

If Michael Dola’s nickname is “big foot” that would certainly be an appropriate description.

That’s because the Yorktown High School senior place-kicker and punter has been booming the ball with thunderous and lengthy results all season long, no matter what type of kick.

So far this fall, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Dola has already booted two 51-yard field goal. Plus, he kicked three three-pointers in a win over the Edison Eagles.

In a typical game, like the Oct. 15 contest against the Stuart Raiders, Dola regularly boots kickoffs either well into the end zone, or completely beyond. He did so twice against Stuart, with the ball splitting the uprights of the goal post on one such kick.

Dola kicked three extra points, a chip-shot 26-yard field goal and punted three times for a 53.1 average against Stuart.

As a result of his effort, Dola has become one of the Northern Region’s best and most dangerous kickers, and punters, with three games still remaining in the regular season.

He’s fun to watch.
